galavanting round the scottish borders

I travel back to my second "home" to visit mum and still love the area I called home from the age of 17 and a half.

the Eildon hills as seen from the Dunnion road

and as you travel down from the Dunnion towards the town you pass the Castle Jail

continue down past the square and round to Queen street and into the gardens

where you can enjoy the lawns and the House Mary Queen of Scots stayed

Inside the house is a museum informing you of her visit the gardens are a lovely place to just sit and relax too

head around the square and you pass the clock tower and the origional jail

you then see the abbey from the tower end

a view many pass as they whizz through the town without stopping to take the abby in in all its glory and seeing what the rest of the town has to offer

the other view full side on when those that don't stop whizz past, it really is worth just a few minutes to stop and view the whole scene befeor visiting the rest of the town

After all this is the gateway to Scotland and well worth a wee stop to get a taste of what is to come.

and a wee pano of kelso from the millenium view point
