galavanting with purple

there were hundreds of  these beautiful autumn crocuses all round the gardens

 colchicum autumnale is their fancy name

and I fould this beautiful deep burgundy almost black holly hock

with such a delicate pink center

I spotted these beautiful blue cones

they were oozing this white liquid that was crystallizing in the air

 there were wasps all over, at first i did wonder if it was eggs from them but on closer examination the ends of the branches where new cones were only visible as a tiny bump were also oozing this stuff

and tis tiny flower is of the cranesbill/geranium family

I found this unusual plant 

which turned more purple as it grew bigger

and later in my wander I spotted another one

back lit from the sun

after speaking to staff in the multifaith center I was given permission to take photos in the chapel

as you enter you have to walk beneath the massive pipes of the organ

and then you are met with a beautiful peaceful very light and airy feeling chapel even with the heavy dark wood of the choir stalls and other paneled areas

and when you turn to leave you are again faced with the mighty organ pipes above the dark wooden choir stalls and rood screen

back in the botanical gardens 

the peacock butterfly was galavanting all over 

but it finally settled on a wee flower and let me get close enough for a half decent shot 

and this red admiral wasn't too concerned as i crept up on it.

I took advantage of a beautiful day to get a few shots of Kings College

with kings College chapel on the left

after a historical walk during MayFest I knew I could gain access to the side for a view many haven't seen

and with good timing later in the day I got a student free shot through the arch to the quad and the inner buildings

then on to the left tower of new kings covered in what I believe to be virginia creeper

and the right tower windows and all covered by the same type of plant

I have seen autumn crocuses before but not white ones

I just had to try and capture the middle but  then I noticed the debris in there

things living and things dead together in the centre of a beautiful flower!

a wander into the botanical gardens threw up this beautiful tree 

with space to peep out from under the branches

and a lovely hidden bench to while away some time

with many hours to kill in town I had a wee wander around St Machers Cathedral

got a beautiful day to be out and about

shooting inside was a challenge though

with light and shade and dark areas 

and the beautiful stained glass windows proved a huge challenge too

but hey life's full of challenges and they need met full on no good trying to dodge them they will catch you up eventually so go out and embrace them all

2013 holds many special memories unfortunatly not for the best of reasons

November I got to go to Liverpool    

outside out hotel was the big wheel great to take shots of in dark and daylight

and behind the John Lennon memorial is the Echo Arena where we were headed to see Mrs Browns boys one of the big ticks on my daughters bucket list before she died

in 2013 Crathes Castle was host to a light show in the grounds

the whole area was beautiful

If only they would do it again, I would be first in the queue!

after what seems like weeks of grey wet weather I decided to look in my memory folders

september 2013 had lots of blue skys and warm days

and my pink lilies were fantastic in 2014, unfortunatly I seem to have lost most of them now.

yet another wet day so while there was a break in the rain I grabbed the camera and headed into the garden 

love seeing the raindrops on the flowers,  this rose was supposed to be purple but had other ideas!

and this daisy like plant is supposed to be white!

then finally my sweet peas are starting to bloom just as the weather turns cooler and more autumnal!
