galavanting on the wild side 2

when we got to the pond the real thing was there but difficult to spot at first,

peekaboo

can you not slow down so I can get a clear action shot?

now I know these are damselflies not dragonflies and on looking closely there are two different types in this shot

and just how does it hold that position for minuets and minutes must have been doing planking classes!

galavanting on the wild side 1

for the third year I am taking part in the wildlife trusts 30 days wild. yesterday friends and I went to Castle Fraser and followed the dragonfly trail

lots of imaginative representations of dragonflies

with various materials

some were easily spotted

and mind boggling!

some were more realistic if larger than life

and some were quite well hidden in the open

and not that much larger than the real thing.

galavanting in the woods

all yellow flowers on bushes may look the same but don't mix them up,
this is gorse and is pretty to look at but vicious to touch

this is broom the flowers look nearly identical to gorse
pretty to look at and smell and not prickly

and this is the very rare  yellow flowered conifer jokiei
the flowers are nearly identical to broom bt the bush can be rather prickly but not as violent as gorse.
😈😉
